The College come into being in the Academic year 1986-87 owing to the determined efforts of the BASIC EDUCATION SOCIETY®.
The objective of the Basic Education Society® is to impart professional come productive education and to promote and organize social activities for building up cultural, social and educational characters of young generation.
Dr. RML College of Law, affiliated to Karnataka State Law University,Hubballi and recognised and approved by Bar Council of India, New Delhi is one of the many institutions proposed to be established by the Basic Education Society.
Presently, the College offers both 5 years B.A. LL.B, day course and 3 years LL.B day course for students who have passed 10+2 and graduates respectively. Both the courses are recognised by the Bar Council of India and Karnataka State Law University,Hubballi. Semester system has been introduced since the Academic year 2001 - 2002.
Basic Education Society® and its Dr. RML College of Law is managed by the Board of Directors consisting of Advocates, Professors, Eminent Men in public life,Doctors and Educationists.
The College has well-equipped staff, both teaching and non-teaching. The teaching staff comprises mostly of full-time teachers and to some extent part-time teachers who are practicing advocates at the Bar. Legal luminaries amongst the members of the Bar are invited to deliver lectures on various topics of current interest from time to time.
The practicing advocates are put in charge of practical papers, so that the students, under their guidance and suggestion, will get exposed to court-room craft as well.
The College has a very good library and spacious building to cater to the needs of the students. The library is up-dated from time to time with latest books and periodicals to meet the needs of both students as well as teaching staff. Law reporters such as AIR, SCC, Cr.L.J., I.L.R. (KAR), I.L.I. Publications, Indians Bar Review, etc., are being added to library every year. Full-time qualified librarian has been appointed to operate the library by catalogue and card system.
Students are permitted to borrow normally two books at a time for a period of 14 days only. However, on request in writing by the students regularly attending classes, The principal may permit students to borrow any number of books from the library.
Social and cultural activities are being conducted every year under the presidentship of the principal of the College.
In terms of prevailing Disciplinary norms, the code of conduct, inter alia, prescribed by the principal of Dr. RML College of Law is as follows:
1. Every student shall at all time maintain absolute discipline and do nothing which is unbecoming of a student of the College.
2. No student shall abet, encourage or indulge in any form of malpractice connected with admissions; examinations or any other activity of the College.
3. No student shall misbehave with the visiting members of the flying squad of the University.
4. Every student who violates the code of conduct, specified supra, is liable to be expelled or rusticated from the College by the principal.
